Ingrid has been working with clay for the past 5 years. It’s a medium that provides for unlimited exploration and engagement. She enjoys the whole process from the design of objects – to the final finishing of products. The thrill of knowing that an object that has been created to fulfill a purpose not only works but also provides enjoyment to people every day is a very satisfying feeling.
Her work is mostly functional tableware, teaware and vases. She produces both limited works for exhibition and a production range for sale in gallery shops around Australia. Her work is thrown on the wheel and then turned and finished with various decorative techniques. At the moment her work explores the juxtaposition of sharpness of machine and computer manipulated imagery – with the softness, variation and hand made quality of the wheel thrown porcelain forms.
