Tony Northover

With no formal qualifications in Art, Tony began his journey 10 years ago in a Warrandyte gallery, and since then, with watercolour being his favoured medium, he has been taught by some of the more outstanding and award winning watercolourists around. Most recently, the acclaimed watercolourist, Greg Allen.

My subjects are still many and varied as I have no desire to settle on any particular theme or genre.  Of the paintings on display, one is of the South Esk River at 5pm as I was heading back to Longford. The strong sky reflection on the river surface is what caught my eye.

The other, is inspired by my knowledge of the countryside around Yea/Alexandra and is a bit of an experiment combining a late afternoon sun kissing the hill top, with the mysterious and moody granulation of foreground trees/shadows.
