Beatrice Magalotti

Beatrice has worked in the visual arts for a number of years.  She has worked in galleries and in Melbourne schools, bringing art and art appreciation to students.

Her work is informed by the organic juxtaposition of found objects and recycled timber.  The stones which feature in the work are carefully selected for their form.  Her sculptures contrast the rough and the smooth and balance positive and negative shape and space.

The curved rounded forms of the stones are juxtaposed with the acute geometry of the wood.  Her sculptures have a sense of balance and the process of change involved in its manufacture is an integral – if unseen – part of the work.
