After a life-long interest in art, including running a gallery in Sydney in the 1950’s introducing Charles Blackman, Robert Dickerson and others – and learning from their mentors including Tassie Drysdale, Hal Missingham and Robert Klippel – Eric began painting and sculpting seriously in middle age with Robert Hannaford in Adelaide and later with David Moore and Matcham Skipper of Montsalvat, Eltham.
Eric works primarily for personal satisfaction – in sculpture, to capture the gestures of people evoking commonly shared human experience; and in paint, to celebrate the living earth we share. He very rarely exhibits, now focusing mainly on small bronzes, frequently perceived as metaphors and allegories.
