Over the years Robyn has developed a unique style and technique for integrating beautiful textiles, fine metallic thread and other forms of embellishment in her work. The highly detailed works are created on paper and canvas and incorporate a diverse range of materials from antique hand-stitched wedding gowns and hi-tech textiles, to timber veneers, papers, feathers and jewels.
From her studio on Sydney’s lower north shore, Robyn teaches and has regularly exhibited in group and solo exhibitions. Antique hand embroidered fabrics from Rajasthan and richly coloured Japanese obis, temple mats and alter cloths were the inspiration behind her most recent exhibition, depicting exotic women, richly adorned and exquisitely embellished with metallic thread and jewels. When she creates images of exotic women, it is the melding of diverse cultures and fabrics, past and present that she particularly enjoys.
