Ian Banksmith

Ian’s new oeuvre of artwork reveals an injection of raw energy that impacts the viewer with refreshing vitality.

Personality and nature are melded together in a flurry of physicality; the expressionism is very evident but so too is the landscape.

Ian’s interpretation of nature is every bit his own. Form, colour and light have been stripped to their elements, charging off the canvas; yet somehow Ian still evokes a sense of underlying harmony, joy and a celebration of everything that is affirmative in life, albeit intense at times.

In 2008, Ian will be staging a retrospective exhibition of sixty artworks dating from 1979 to the present. A number of these pieces have been exhibited in Australia and New York City.
