Sheryl was born in Melbourne and studied Visual Arts at NMIT. Her multi-award winning work is represented in private and corporate collections throughout Australia, Japan and New York.
Among the judges of these awards are:- Geoffrey Smith - Senior Curator of Australian Art - National Gallery of Victoria; Maudie Palmer – Senior Melbourne Art Curator and Director of Tarrawarra Museum of Art Jon Dwyer – Director of Christies Fine Art Auctions Dr Celia Rosser OAM Paul Fitzgerald AM
Her most recognized award was for the painting ‘Following the Landscape’, one of a series selected by Maudie Palmer for exhibition in the Nillumbik Art Prize held in 2003. ‘Following the Landscape’ also won the People’s Choice Award.
In 2004 Sheryl was awarded First Prize Contemporary by Paul Fitzgerald AM at Strathcona Art show for Wurundjeri District – Winter II.
In May 2004 Sheryl was invited as featured artist to exhibit ten works at the Canterbury Art Exhibition at Canterbury Primary and she exhibits there annually.
She held a major solo exhibition at Evelyn County Winery, Kangaroo Ground in 2002 and 2003, and again in November 2006.
In 2007 Sheryl’s work was represented at the Nillumbik Art Prize held at Montsalvat in June and July.
In producing contemporary Australian landscapes, Sheryl draws upon the topography of the land, then takes from it what she visualises as most significant. The work of Fred Williams and John Olsen have had the biggest influence in her work.
