Pamela has been a full time artist for over 20 years, in which time she has participated in over 100 group and solo exhibitions in Australia and overseas. Her works are included in municipal, university and school collections as well as Regional Galleries, Artbank and Museum Victoria.
The etchings presented here are inspired by a recent trip to Madrid and Seville where there is an abundance of street graffiti. The characters seen in Spain scrawled, sprayed and stencilled on walls and alleyways are playful like the Larry Latrobe sculpture in the city square. Pamela’s etchings are intuitive drawings in response to this street art as well as from her own imagination and menagerie of domestic animals. Her editions are intentionally small and many are uniquely hand coloured with gouache. The Larrykins are solid ceramic versions of Larry Latrobe, each one hand cast and individually painted.
